Inception mission part 1. Cyprus –15th – 16th December 2021

The aim of the first part of the inception mission was to consult the most up-to-date needs of the EASO mission-supported countries, in particular Cyprus. During the mission the Project Team held a meeting with the Head of the Cypriot Asylum Service Ms Chrysomila – Koutsoumba and her staff. The meeting took place at the First Reception Centre ‘Pournara’ which currently accommodates ca. 2500 asylum seekers. The Project representatives also visited the seat of the  EASO’s Operational Office in Cyprus where a meeting with the Office Head, Mr Francesco Torcoli and his colleagues was organised.

During the meetings the Project Staff presented the project in detail and discussed the expert profiles that the project could deliver in order to provide support for Cyprus and other countries where EASO Operational Plans are implemented. The observations from the mission will be taken into account during the formulation of the curriculum of the following sessions.
